Tainted Dog Food

What the hell? Tainted dog food? Dog Deaths!

If anyone can tell me what is up with this? I mean a real explanation. Preferably someone in the dog food industry can help sort this out. I've done a bit of research and I am now left to wonder whether or not this is a long standing problem or if this is something that is isolated.

Ever since I got my cat from the pound, a vet friend of mine recommended higher end food due to the cheaper stuff doing all kinds of terrible things to their inner workings. (Again i'm no expert). I know that something happens with urinary crystals and what not to cats. The same goes for dogs I understand and then other deficiencies that occur as well that can kill their life expectancy by years!

My dog being a big breed is already short lived. At any rate, if someone can help me with this that would be great.

I found this interesting and was worth the the read . However I want someone who actually works in one of these manufacturing plants to tell it how it is.

I know having worked in the manufacturing industry for a number of years the things that go unnoticed and unreported. However, I have no experience in the food preparation industry.
Can anyone comment on this?

In the meantime I'm reading this recipe book that I got. In total the two cost me around 60 bux.. But I spend that on one meal myself so I justified it that way.
